A partnership for communication

Right at the start of the new year, we are pleased to announce some good news: The National Research Programme "Baukultur" (NRP 81) and the publishing house espazium have formed a partnership that will be showcased in a dedicated online dossier on www.espazium.ch. The dossier is designed as a platform through which NRP 81 will publish various content for an interested specialist audience. Those involved in the research projects can report on current developments in their work. For example, the design ethnographer Merle Ibach discusses the "cultural probes" method in the project "Shaping Baukultur: value-based and participatory", while the conservator-restorer Flavia Flückiger talks to Caspar Schärer about the underestimated value of regularly maintaining cultural assets, the core topic of the project "Cultural Heritage needs Continuous Care".

The articles in the dossier are published in Switzerland's three national languages of German, French and Italian and are aimed at a broad audience with an interest in the topics. With its printed publications and website, the publishing house espazium reaches building professionals from a wide range of disciplines. At the same time, it cultivates a comprehensive understanding of Baukultur that is in line with the principles of NRP 81, particularly the aim of linking Baukultur with social and ecological transition.

The dossier has now been launched and the first articles have been published. It will grow quickly and help to bring together the various players involved in Baukultur. The thematic breadth of the 13 research projects alone promises a great deal. Added to this is the great diversity of the various people involved, who each have their own perspective on building culture and are developing it further.
